How hard is it to teach yourself to play the piano?
I’m 19, Ive wanted to learn to play an instrument for a while and the piano/keyboard(is there a difference) really appeals to me. How hard is it to teach yourself and what would be the best way to go about doing it?
You Can try to teach yourself and spend ages just spinning your wheels, and still being awful – OR you could call a good teacher. A good teacher is worth every dollar, and a poor teacher is a waste of every penny. Find someone who has DEGREES in music, and is a certified teacher – not the stoner at your local music store. I hear hundreds of students every year ( I am a competition judge) and the level of HIDEOUS preparation or lack that of is astonishing – *somebody* told them they were *awesome*, and that they were *so talented* that reading music poorly – if at all – was not a problem, blahblahblah. Just cut to the chase – CALL A TEACHER.
